There are a number of
committees within the CMGS which are responsible for
the running of the Society, monitoring and setting
standards of services and training staff members of
service laboratories.
The committees are
listed on the left, please follow the links for
information on their remits, membership and further
information.

Newborn Screening Laboratory Quality Group want a
CMGS Representative
Any expressions of interest to Graham Taylor please
by the end of June.
Following a review of laboratory quality for the UK
Newborn Screening
Programmes (dried blood spot screening), the UK
Newborn Screening
Programme Centre and NHS Sickle Cell and
Thalassaemia Programme, with
support from the National Screening Committee
Director of Programmes,
Anne Mackie, wish to establish a Quality Group.
The group will be newborn screening focussed and
bring together all
laboratory quality matters relevant to blood spot
screening in the UK.
There will be joint engagement with the bodies
responsible for current
QA schemes.
I am writing to invite you to nominate a
representative from CMGS,
with an interest and involvement in the Cystic
Fibrosis and MCADD
newborn screening programmes, to this group.
The Chairman is Rowena Clayton, Consultant in Public
Health, West
Midlands.
The first meeting will take place on Wednesday 10th
September 2008 in
the Ground Floor Room B,
Government Office for the West Midlands

The second meeting is scheduled for November 18th
2008, venue TBA.
